The Enforcement Directorate (ED) on Thursday, February 3, carried out searches at Mumbai's residence of Sujit Patkar, who is a partner in a firm of Shiv Sena leader Sanjay Raut's daughters Purvashi and Vidhita, in connection with the INR 1,034 crores Patra Chawl land scam case.

A day earlier, on Wednesday, February 2, the ED arrested Praveen Raut, as Patkar is associated with Pravin Raut of Guruashish constructions, a sister company of HDIL constructions. He used to handle liaison-related work for the firm, as per sources.

Sujit Patkar is also an additional director of a wine distribution company along with the daughters of Sanjay Raut since April 16, 2021, as per reports.

Reports stated that the ED officials suspect that proceeds of crime from the sale of floor space index (FSI) of Patra Chawl land might have also gone to Patkar.

The ED is investigating the Alibaug land deal and whether it was purchased from money generated from Guruashish constructions through the illegal sale of FSI from Patra Chawl land.

As per accounts, the ED sources also said that in 2010, Pravin Raut had received INR 95 crores in his bank account in the guise of the sale of equity and land deals. However, the company was not able to complete the project and had not generated any income.

Moreover, Patkar's estranged wife and Sanjay Raut's wife had bought land in Alibaug jointly, said officials.
