The Sessions Court on Friday rejected the bail application of bus driver Sanjay More, the main accused in the BEST accident in Kurla West last month. Claiming that he is innocent and that the accident happened due to a technical fault in the bus, More approached the sessions court seeking bail. Additional Sessions Court Judge Sachin Pawar, while ruling on his bail application on Friday, clarified that it was being rejected. The court had reserved its decision on More's bail application after both sides concluded their arguments on Saturday.
Meanwhile, citing the forensic report and the RTO report, More was not under the influence of alcohol at the time of the incident. Also, there was no technical fault in the bus. Hence, the police had opposed More's bail application, claiming that the accident was due to his fault. More is not a good driver but a danger from him. Therefore, he should not be granted bail. Also, the police had demanded rejection of More's bail application, claiming that there is a possibility that he would run away if released on bail.

On the other hand, we have experience of operating buses since 1989 and this unfortunate accident happened due to mechanical failure of the electric bus. We cannot be held responsible for that. In fact, it was claimed during arguments on behalf of More that he was being sacrificed to save the prime accused responsible for the accident. No bus contractor has been arrested or charged in this case. We were trained to sit in the office and asked to drive an electric bus at Dindoshi Bus Depot. After that, we were allowed to drive buses to Kurla. Also, More requested the court to grant him bail, reiterating that he alone cannot be held responsible for the accident.
