A mother pushed her eight-year-old daughter from the 29th floor on Wednesday morning, March 12 at the Marathon Naxon building. The girl died on the spot. After that, the woman also committed suicide by jumping. This incident has created a stir in the entire area and the police have registered a case in this regard.


Ashish Duva lived with his wife and daughter in a flat on the 29th floor of a high-rise building called Marathon Naxon in Palaspe Phata, Panvel. Ashish's wife Maithili (37) is said to have been under mental stress for some time. On Wednesday morning around 8:30 am, Maithili threw her eight-year-old daughter Myra out of the bedroom window. The girl died on the spot. Shortly thereafter, Maithili committed suicide by jumping.

Upon receiving information about the incident, the police immediately rushed to the spot. According to the complaint filed by Maithili's husband with the police, a case of murder has been registered against Maithili. According to the information given by Deputy Commissioner of Police Prashant Mohite, Ashish and Maithili met during their college days. Later, they got married. Ashish is originally from Agra and has a contract job, while Maithili was a housewife. 

Investigation by Senior Police Inspector Nitin Thakre has revealed that the couple had been arguing for months. On Wednesday morning, while Ashish was sleeping, Maithili locked her room and threw her daughter down first. She then committed suicide.
