Uran Murder Case: Accused Dawood Shaikh Sent To 7-Day Police Custody

Dawood Shaikh, the accused in the Uran massacre, was produced in the Panvel Sessions Court on Wednesday. The court has sentenced him to seven days of police custody in the case of the murder of a 22-year-old girl. SC/ST Prevention of Atrocities Section has also been imposed on the accused in this case.


Dawood Shaikh (24) was arrested by the Central Unit from Shahpur hill area of Gulbarga district in Karnataka. The accused knew the victim since 2019. The accused was arrested once previously as well. When the victim's father saw them together in a park,he filed a complaint at  a police station, following a case under POCSO Act was filed against him. After spending six months in jail, he came out and went to his hometown in Karnataka. where he worked as a bus driver.

According to the police, the girl had come in contact with another boy which enraged the accused Dawood Sheikh. Meanwhile, Zone One Deputy Commissioner of Police Vivek Pansare has clarified that social media posts about the 'brutal' murder are false. The girl was stabbed to death. "Posts like her private parts hurt, head split open, breasts cut off, hands cut off are all misleading and false." Also, the police said that this killing was done out of one-sided love.
