The government plans to set up an engineering college for girls in Mumbai's Anushakti Nagar to provide higher education opportunities to girls from minority communities, Minority Development Minister Dattatreya Bharane said. He also directed officials to submit a proposal to establish the college under the Prime Minister’s Jan Vikas Programme.

A meeting regarding the establishment of the engineering college for minority girls was held at Mauje Anik, Chembur, Anushakti Nagar.

Minister Bharane stated that the government is particularly focused on improving educational opportunities within the Muslim community. He emphasised that the progress of society is possible only through educational advancement, making it essential to provide access to higher education.

The proposed engineering college in Anushakti Nagar will aim to support girls from minority communities in pursuing higher education. The minister instructed that a proposal be submitted in accordance with the guidelines of the Prime Minister Jan Vikas Programme. He also stressed that inclusive and positive proposals should be developed, ensuring that adequate resources and facilities are available so that girls from other communities may also seek admission.
