According to reports, students in their first, second and third year from the undergraduate health sciences courses are urging for a postponement of examinations.
This comes amidst the final-year medical examinations commencing earlier this week. In view of the spike with regards to cases of coronavirus, several parents have raised concerns over the conduct of physical examinations. However, the Maharashtra University of Health Sciences is yet to make a decision.
Moreover, around 40,000 students across the state are enrolled in the lower classes of undergraduate courses. Meanwhile, there was over 95 per cent attendance in the final-year exams.
On the other hand, Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray, in an address to the state has informed that the examinations for the Maharashtra Public Service Commission (MPSC) will take place in a week's time
Thackeray further stated, "Last time when the exams were postponed, I'd assured you it won't be further postponed when next date is declared. Today it was postponed due to COVID-19. I assure you that postponement isn't for 2-3 months but for a few days. The exam will take place in a week's time."
The examinations were scheduled to be held on March 14. Meanwhile, the dates for the same have been postponed for the fifth time in the last one and a half years. Earlier, the students had expressed outrage with the exam cancellations. Moreover, hundreds of students took to the streets of Pune in order to protest against the delay.
