'JioHotstar' launches on Valentine's Day, available to viewers free of charge

Viewers with Jio Cinema and Disney Hotstar subscriptions will be able to watch all the content on JioHotstar at the same fee

The merger of two entertainment groups, 'Viacom 18' and 'Star India', which completely changed the equation in the entertainment sector, was completed in the month of November last year. However, the combined entertainment or OTT channels of both these groups were not launched. Finally, on the occasion of Valentine's Day, the new OTT channel 'JioHotstar' is entering the service of the customers on Friday.


After the merger of 'Viacom 18' and 'Star India', the two groups came together under the name 'Jiostar'. A website was also launched with this name. But the combined new channel was not announced. Now the new channel 'JioHotstar' which brings together two OTT channels namely Jio Cinema and Disney Hotstar under the new company 'Jiostar' is launching on Friday on the occasion of Valentine's Day. The channel 'JioHotstar' will provide diverse content in more than 19 languages to the audience.


It will also provide viewers with movies, web series along with live sports matches and sports content. Content on 'JioHotstar' is currently available to viewers free of charge.

But if you want to watch any content without ads or other interruptions, it will be available through a paid subscription plan starting at INR 149. Moreover, viewers with Jio Cinema and Disney Hotstar subscriptions will be able to watch all the content on JioHotstar at the same fee.


“The vision behind 'JioHotstar' is to deliver multilingual content to all Indian audiences without limiting entertainment to a specific category. We have made content available in more than 19 languages on this channel," said Kiran Mani, Chief Executive Officer, Digital Division, Jiostar. 


Kevin Vaz, CEO of Jiostar's entertainment division, believes that the channel 'JioHotstar' will set new standards in the digital entertainment world. The content of famous Hollywood companies like Disney, NBC Universal, Warner Brothers, Discovery HBO, Paramount will also be available on 'JioHotstar'.
