The Crime Branch of the Mumbai Police on Monday filed a 1,700-page chargesheet in court against six goons of the Lawrence Bishnoi gang in connection with the firing at actor Salman Khan's house in Bandra.
Sagar Pal, Vicky Gupta, Sonu Kumar Bishnoi, Harpal Singh alias Harry, Mohammad Rafiq Chaudhary and Anuj Thapan have been booked under the provisions of the Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act (MOCCA). Thapan committed suicide while in police custody. Statements of dozens of witnesses have been recorded in this case. The statement of Salman and his brother Arbaaz Khan was recorded on June 4. Their statements have also been included in the charge sheet.
Apart from this, gang leader Lawrence Bishnoi, his brother Anmol Bishnoi and prominent gang member Rohit Godhara are also involved in the case and have been named as a wanted accused in the case. The crime branch will try to issue red corner notices against the other accused who are currently abroad as charge sheets have been filed, the crime branch official said.
Sagar Pal and Vicky Gupta opened fire outside the actor's residence in Bandra on the morning of April 14. In that case, the crime branch arrested six people from the university state. According to the Crime Branch investigation, the attack was carried out at the behest of Lawrence Bishnoi, who is in Sabarmati Jail. He had threatened Salman Khan earlier too. Bishnoi, his younger brother Anmol is suspected to be hiding in Canada.
Bishnoi is trying to gain publicity by threatening and attempting to assault a popular actor and thereby gain media attention. A case has been registered under the MCOCA Act in this regard. Lawrence Bishnoi is likely to be arrested soon in this case and the Crime Branch will investigate him.
