In its five-day forecast released on Sunday, July 21, the India Meteorological Department has predicated that Mumbai will receive heavy to very heavy rainfall for the next few days. For this, an orange and yellow alert has been issued till July 24 for Mumbai, Palghar, Thane and Sindhudurg districts.
Meanwhile, orange alert has been issued till July 24 for Raigad and Ratnagiri.

As per reports, nearly 152mm of rainfall coupled with a high tide of 4.44m on Sunday.
IMD's Santacruz and Colaba observatories recorded 151.6mm and 42mm rainfall in the 12-hour period ending on Sunday 8 pm. MMR also witnessed heavy downpour.

Meanwhile, several areas in the city saw nearly 200mm rainfall during this 12-hour period, according to BMC.

Moreover, lake levels have reached nearly 50 per cent as on Monday, July 22, 6 am.
Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde asked officials to be on high alert as parts of the state, including Mumbai, are battered by heavy rains. The State Disaster Response Force, the local administration, civic bodies, police etc should take regular updates on the weather from the IMD and plan accordingly to provide relief to citizens.
Owing to this, NDRF teams have been deployed in Vasai (Palghar), Thane, Ghatkopar, Powai (Kurla), Mahad (Raigad), Khed and Chiplun (Ratnagiri), Kudal (Sindhudurg), Kolhapur, Sangli, and Satara as a precaution during the monsoon season.
