Mumbai Weather Update: City's Minimum Temperature May Go Above 20°C From Tomorrow

According to the System of Air Quality Weather Forecasting and Research (SAFAR), the air quality of Mumbai is predicted is likely to be in the moderate category for the next two days.

After two days, Mumbai’s minimum temperature saw a slight rise on Tuesday, January 3 with India Meteorological Department (IMD)’s Santacruz observatory recording 16.6 degree Celsius while Colaba marked 19.2 degree Celsius.

Owing to this, the weather department has predicted a possible rise in temperature up to 20 degrees Celsius this week. The IMD has also forecast slightly cloudy skies throughout the day, for the next two days, while the minimum temperature may go above 20 degrees Celsius on Wednesday (January 4) and Thursday (January 5).

Moreover, the city on Monday, January 2, breathed poor air with an air quality index (AQI) of 232. Whereas, Navi Mumbai and Chembur had a 'very poor' category AQIs of 352 and 310, respectively. On Sunday, January 2, the city recorded a moderate AQI at 186.

According to the System of Air Quality Weather Forecasting and Research (SAFAR), the air quality of Mumbai is predicted is likely to be in the moderate category for the next two days.

However, a day earlier, the weekly forecasts stated that the city will continue to experience a cold and pleasant weather this week with no significant changes.

Meanwhile, IMD officials mentioned that the night time temperature will hover between 16 and 19°C over the next three to four days, and the overall weather will continue to be pleasant.

It is pertinent to note that the city's minimum temperature continued to be below 16 degrees Celsius for two consecutive days, that is, Sunday (January 1) and Monday (January 2). The year's first week began on a chilling note of 15.8 degrees Celsius.

Besides, the lowest minimum temperature recorded in Maharashtra today was 9.8 degrees Celsius in Jalgaon followed by Aurangabad and Nashik at 10.6 degrees Celsius.

The lowest minimum temperature recorded in Mumbai over the last 10 years was in January 2012 at 10 degrees Celsius followed by 10.4 degrees Celsius in 2013.
