Chinese cuisine is clearly the most preferable for many if asked. Restaurants in the city serve difference flavours and types of Chinese cuisine, but only a handful serve the dishes which match the authentic flavor.

Adding to the list of these restaurants is Open China, located in Juhu, which has opened doors to the lovers of Asian food. Curated by Chef Rohit, the menu largely focuses on dishes served in the Asian cuisine.

The chef at the restaurant is appreciated for his choices, as he presented some selected signature dishes. The menu is vast, and the first thorough look of it will take some time. To please the vegetarians, the menu includes Sweet corn asparagus soup, vegetable chive dumplings, open China signature tofu, lettuce wraps in plum sauce and many others. Besides these, meat lovers are in for a treat at Open China, as the menu includes Prawns and chicken sui mai, chicken wings with plum sauce, Salt and pepper prawns, lamb in black bean sauce, sweet and sour prawns and a lot more.

Despite being a vegetarian, I had a lot to choose from! This was impressive. We started with soups. Served in Porcelain bowls, the texture, and the taste was just about likable. However, the quantity of which was quite satisfying. Dim sums made way to the table right after. The presentation was not anything different from the usual, but the taste was. The dumplings were fragile and tasted authentic. Appetizers were served next. The options here were a mix of both – something new and the usually preferred. The signature dish, Open China signature tofu was presented well, and in adequate quantity. The tofu was delicate and the taste was just right – sweet and spicy. Many with a decent appetite can easily finish the serving on their own! Finally, it was time for the main course, the quantity of which was also very sufficient for two. The quality of the food was impressive and the taste was well balanced, thankfully without fusing it with anything Indian.

Spread on a vast area, the feel of the restaurant is cozy, and visitors can choose seats from one of the three divisions. Open China serves a range of beverages which includes juices, shakes, and Mocktails.

Note: The review is based on the menu ordered which included Sweet Corn Vegetable Soup, Clear Vegetable Soup, Vegetable Chive Dumpling, Mixed Vegetable Crystal Dumpling, Open China Signature Tofu, Lettuce wrapped in Plum Sauce, Fried Soy Hong Kong Noodles, Open China Signature Rice, Kung Pao Vegetables, and Aubergine in Black Bean Sauce
