Although there is an increase in epidemic diseases during the rainy season, compared to June and July, there has been an increase in the number of winter fever, dengue, chikungunya and lepto patients in Mumbai. Swine Flu and Jaundice patients have not increased much while Gastro patients have decreased significantly.


With the onset of monsoon, there was a huge increase in the number of gastro patients. Under that there was an increase in the number of winter fever and dengue patients. There was a steady increase in the number of patients of these diseases in June and July. But in July, swine flu suddenly reared its head. Due to heavy rains in July, incidents of waterlogging increased in places. As a result, citizens had to travel through stagnant water.

Due to this, Lepto patients also started increasing. There was an increase in the patients of gastro, cold, dengue followed by lepto and swine flu. However, due to intermittent rains and increasing heat in August, there has been an increase in chikungunya patients along with winter fever, dengue and lepto. In Mumbai, 1171 cases of cold, 1013 cases of dengue, 272 cases of lepto, 164 cases of chikungunya, 169 cases of jaundice and 170 cases of swine flu have been found in Mumbai. But there has been a decrease in the number of gastro patients with 694 registered gastro patients.


Chikungunya cases too increased in the state

Like Mumbai, there is an increase in chikungunya patients in the state as well. Mumbai has seen a significant increase in Chikungunya cases in August, which was prevalent in June and July. In August, 164 cases of chikungunya were found in Mumbai, and 1123 cases have been found in the state.
