With vaccinations picking up pace, the Maharashtra Government passed a resolution in the State Assembly on Tuesday, July 6, aiming to bolster the supply of doses. The resolution demands the supply of at least three crore doses of the COVID-19 vaccine per month from the Central Government.
The primary objective of this exercise is to reach the vaccination targets set by the State health authorities. Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray has talked about starting a 24x7 vaccination drive if the Union Government supplies the maximum number of doses.

Maharashtra Public Health Minister, Rajesh Tope moved the resolution in the assembly and said that getting vaccinated is the only way for the population to attain herd immunity. This, he says, will also keep the anticipated third coronavirus wave under control. The Health Minister also announced that at least 3.43 crore people in the state have received their vaccine.
Another matter of concern for the state is the fact that it tops all states in terms of the highest active cases (1.23 lakh). Tope also said that the state is capable of vaccinating a minimum of 10 lakh and a maximum of 15 lakh people per day provided the stocks are adequate.
