Resident doctors play a crucial role in patient care, making their safety and accommodation a priority. Medical Education Minister Hasan Mushrif emphasised the need to provide essential facilities and services in medical colleges and hospitals.
During a meeting held at the Ministry with officials from the Maharashtra Association of Resident Doctors (MARD), key issues were discussed. Medical Education Commissioner Rajeev Niwatkar, Director of Medical Education Dr. Ajay Chandanwale, Deputy Secretary Tushar Pawar, and Shankar Jadhav were present.
Minister Mushrif directed that dormitory facilities should be ensured for resident doctors, and proposals for new hostel construction should be submitted. In areas where hostels are unavailable, buildings should be leased for accommodation, and a house rent allowance proposal should be prepared for doctors without hostel facilities.

Additionally, he instructed officials to clear pending dearness allowance payments after verifying details from colleges. For resident doctors' security, hospitals must install alarm systems and CCTVs, and coordination with the Home Department is needed to establish side rooms near patient wards and separate police posts in hospitals.
