Bandra- Residents of Mhada colony went on hunger strike in front of Mhada office on Monday. Shiv Sena MLA Mangesh Kudalkar joined in with the residents in the strike. These residents are facing very tough time because of the weary condition of the building which is 50-60 years old.
On 6 December, 2008 the government proposed the scheme of redevelopment of the building, but it was concluded in September, 2010. Mhada residents are waiting for DCR 33 (5) scheme for past six years.
Residents have written application to everyone from MLA to Chief Minister but no action has been taken whatsoever. MLA Mangesh Kudalkar told Mumbai Live," We will remain on hunger strike till our demands are met."
