Maharashtra: Voting for Rajya Sabha by-election on September 3

The Election Commission of India has announced the schedule of by-elections for the vacant Rajya Sabha seats. The tenure of Rajya Sabha MP Chhatrapati Udayanraje Bhosale is 5 April 2026 and the tenure of Rajya Sabha MP Piyush Ved Prakash Goyal is 4 July 2028. However, with the victory of Chhatrapati Udayanraje Bhosale and Piyush Ved Prakash Goyal in the general election of the 18th Lok Sabha, the Rajya Sabha by-election schedule has been announced.

What is the election date?

The notification for this by-election will be published on Wednesday, August 14, 2024. The last date for submission of nomination forms is Wednesday, August 21, 2024 and scrutiny of applications will take place on Thursday, August 22, 2024. The last date for withdrawal of nomination forms is Monday, August 26, 2024 and voting will take place on Tuesday, September 3, 2024 from 9 AM to 4 PM.


The counting of votes for this by-election will start on the same day i.e. on 3 September 2024 at 5 pm. The entire process will be completed on Friday, September 6, 2024, the Election Commission of India informed through a press release.
