The central government has decided to grant the status of classical language to Marathi language. For many years, there was a demand that Marathi language should be given the status of classical language.


With this decision of the central government, the Marathi language will reach across the world more quickly and effectively. This decision of the central government is to encourage literature numbers of Maharashtra. An important meeting of the Union Cabinet was held on Thursday. In this meeting, it was decided to give the elite status to Marathi language.

The central government has accorded the status of classical language to five more languages along with Marathi. Bengali, Assamese, Pali and Prakrit along with Marathi have been accorded classical language status by the central government. Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnav gave this sweet news after the Union Cabinet meeting.


Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has reacted after Marathi language got the status of classical language. “It is a historic day in the history of Maymarathi! The Union Cabinet decided to give the status of elite to Marathi language. On behalf of the 12 crore people of Maharashtra, I express my heartfelt thanks to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and all the honourable ministers in the Union Cabinet", Devendra Fadnavis expressed.


What is Eknath Shinde's reaction?

Chief Minister Eknath Shinde said, “We thank Prime Minister Narendra Modiji, as well as Union Culture Minister Gajendrasinh Shekhawat for giving due respect to our beloved language. Many Marathi speakers, thinkers, language scholars, writers and critics helped in this work. Thank you very much", said Eknath Shinde.
