On Friday, December 10, morning Mumbai Mayor Kishori Pednekar received an anonymous letter that entailed derogatory statements and threatened to kill her, stated reports. According to accounts, the mayor mentioned that the envelope didn’t have any seal.

Pednekar is expected to lodge an official complaint in the police station in this regard. This death threat comes in the aftermath of the war of words she had with BJP MLA Ashish Shelar.

Based on accounts, Shelar was arrested in a case registered against him for his alleged “objectionable” comments against the Mumbai Mayor. Later, Shelar was released on bail.

During a press conference, Shelar is claimed to have criticized Pednekar for visiting the site of the gas cylinder blast at BDD Chawl in Worli after 72 hours. Some claim that he posed the question as to where the mayor was sleeping for so many hours.

Offended by the term “sleeping” Pednekar then wrote a letter to the state home minister, asking that action be taken against Shelar.

Shelar, on the other hand, believes that his words have been misunderstood. He also wrote a letter to Mumbai Police Commissioner, Hemant Nagarale to probe the complaint filed by Pednekar.
