The India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Thursday, January 13, announced that the temperature is likely to rise in Mumbai over the weekend. The city has been recording chilly mornings for the past few days.

Though the temperature in Mumbai and adjoining areas will continue to hover around 14-15 degrees Celsius in the next 24 to 48 hours, before starting to rise.

However, today, the minimum temperature recorded by the IMD's Santacruz observatory witness a slight increase at 16 degrees Celsius, than previous day. Whereas, IMD's Colaba observatory recorded 18 degrees Celsius.

The maximum temperature recorded by the IMD's Santacruz and Colaba observatory was 27.1 and 26.2 degrees Celsius respectively, this was slight lower than yesterday.

Besides, on Wednesday, January 12, the maximum temperature recorded by the IMD's Santacruz observatory was 27.3 degrees Celsius while the minimum was at 14.4 degrees Celsius. Meanwhile, the maximum temperature recorded by the IMD's Colaba observatory was 27 degrees Celsius while the minimum was 16.2 degrees Celsius.

As per the weather department’s forecast, from January 15 to 20, Mumbai's maximum temperature will rise to 30-32°C and minimum temperature to 19°C-21°C.

Moreover, IMD's Regional Meteorological Department, Mumbai, forecast for the next seven days stated that the night time temperature during the week is likely to rise from Thursday.

In addition, IMD Nagpur has issued a yellow warning for Nagpur, Wardha, Chandrapur, Yavatmal, Gondia, Bhandara and Gadchiroli districts of Vidarbha till Thursday. During the next 24 hours, light to moderate rain with isolated heavy spells may occur over parts of Vidarbha, IMD has predicted.
