Days after the third phase of Mumbai coastal road opened, the first ever Brihanmumbai Electric Supply and Transport (BEST) service has commenced from this morning, July 12.

Bus number A-78, which is an AC bus, will run between NCPA and Byculla 'via Dharmaveer Swarajya Rakshak Chhatrapati Sambhaji Mahara, also known as coastal road project. Prior to this, public transport was not allowed on this road.

Route:

Starting from NCPA, the bus will go through Hotel Trident and along the Marine Drive before taking a diversion to Coastal Road, which will take the bus under the tunnel and on a freeway route to Haji Ali junction.

The exact route of the bus will be: NCPA-Hotel Trident-Netaji Subhash Chandra Marg-Marine Drive-Coastal Road-Breach Candy Hospital-Haji Ali-Mahalaxmi Race Course-Mahalaxmi Station-Saat Rasta-Byculla Station.


Timings and Fare:

The first bus from NCPA will be at 8.50 am and the last bus at 9 pm, while the first bus from Byculla station (West) will be at 8 am and the last at 8.50 pm. Buses on this bus route will remain operational throughout the week.

The minimum fare of this bus will be INR 6 and the maximum fare will INR Rs 19. The BEST administration has appealed to Mumbaikars to take advantage of this service.

Hundreds of vehicles took the road in 10 hours

The first phase of the coastal road project was opened for traffic on March 11 from Worli to Marine Drive. Subsequently, the second lane from Marine Drive to Worli was opened for traffic from June 10.

Now, with the inaugural of the third phase on July 11, it will allow temporary travel from Haji Ali to Khan Abdul Ghaffar Khan Road, and the Haji Ali's Arm 8 (from Lotus Jetty Junction to the main bridge at Haji Ali on the northbound lane). This section will be open for traffic from Monday to Friday, from 7:00 am to 11:00 pm. It will remain closed on Saturdays and Sundays to allow for the completion of the remaining project work.
