Mumbaikars are waiting to see when Phase 2A between BKC-Acharya Atre Chowk Metro Station on the 'Colaba-Bandra-Seepz Metro 3' route will be put into service, and this wait will soon end. Because the team of Metro Commissioner, Metro Rail Safety (CMRS) has finally arrived in Mumbai to inspect Phase 2A.
Now this team will inspect the route between BKC-Acharya Atre Chowk Metro stations and issue a safety certificate for this route. Once the safety certificate is received, the way for the movement of Phase 2A will be cleared. Therefore, within a few days, Mumbaikars will be able to travel directly to Aarey-Acharya Atre Chowk and Worli via the underground metro.
The Mumbai Metro Rail Corporation (MMRC) has been working on the 33.5 km long underground metro line for the past few years. By now, the entire underground metro line was expected to be put into service. However, this route has been delayed due to various reasons. Meanwhile, the first phase of this route, Aarey-BKC, was put into service on October 7, 2024.
This phase has not yet received a satisfactory response from passengers. However, MMRC is confident that the response will increase if this entire route is put into service. That is why MMRC has accelerated the work of the BKC-Cuffe Parade route. MMRC plans to put this entire route into service this year itself.

After the CMRS team completes the Phase 2A inspection, a safety certificate will be issued by CMRS. Sources also said that upon receiving this certificate, MMRC will dedicate the BKC-Acharya Atre Chowk Metro Station section to the public and put it into service. If this section is put into service, it will be easier to reach Worli and Acharya Atre Chowk directly from Aarey, Marol Naka, Santacruz, BKC.
