In recent developments, passengers getting off at Kurla Railway Station and travelling to Bandra-Kurla Complex (BKC) can now have a cheaper and more comfortable option with the e-bike service being launched at the Kurla railway station.

Launched by Central Railway and Ulu Company, the e-bike will be priced at INR 25 for 30 minutes. The e-bike service running on the mobile app was launched on Thursday, February 18. The journey can be started by scanning the QR code through the mobile app. Moreover, bike stands have been set up at 19 places across BKC.

Moreover, a charging station has been set up near Platform No. 18 on Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus. The e-bikes were successfully tested for charging at this charging station on Thursday. These e-bikes will be provided by Yulu via mobile apps, and currently, a facility of 80 e-bikes has been arranged on the western side of Kurla station. After understanding the demand for the same, officials plan to start this service at CSMT, Byculla, Dadar, Ghatkopar, Bhandup, Mulund, Thane and other stations.

In order to improve last-mile connectivity, Central Railways had earlier decided to provide space outside eight suburban stations to operate the app-based electric bike (e-bike) services and permit app-based bus services from Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus (CSMT) and Lokmanya Tilak Terminus (LTT) at Kurla. According to reports, CR expects to earn non-fare revenue of around INR 30 lakhs per annum by leasing these spaces. So far, e-bike services have been receiving good response across the city for last-mile connectivity.
