Matunga Station (Central) is set to be managed by women and women only. It is a progressive step and if this activity is successful, it will be adopted by other stations as well.
This venture will be adopted next week onwards. A staff of 30 women employees will be working at Matunga station. There are 11 booking clerks, 7 ticket collectors, 2 chief booking advertisers, 5 railway policemen, 5 point guests, 2 announcers and one station manager.
The Railway Department intends to empower women by doing this.Women are competent enough to manage an entire railway station, according to Sunil Udasi, Chief Public Relations Officer.
It is very impressive step taken by the administration.
