A multi-disciplinary audit committee for Western Railway submitted their report on Wednesday that stated the need for 12 new FOBs and reconstruction of 17 existing FOBs. The tender process for the same will begin from November and BMC will help to build seven bridges, confirmed WR PRO Ravindra Bhakar.
As per the multi-disciplinary audit committee’s report, new and existing FOBs will go under renovation at Marine Lines, Elphinstone Road, Bandra, Andheri, and Bhayander. The estimated cost of constructing new FOBs would come around INR 245 Cr.
The multi-disciplinary audit committee has recommended installing 1600 CCTV cameras with video analytic features such as face recognition and an alarm system to help in case of overcrowding. Also, it recommended limiting the use of WiFi to platforms as a lot of people stand on FOBs accessing the internet which in turn causes overcrowding.
