The much-awaited Mumbai-Ahmedabad high-speed rail project is also set to revolutionize travel within the Mumbai Metropolitan Region (MMR). This will significantly increase connectivity and reduce travel time for thousands of passengers.

According to the National High Speed Rail Corporation, the proposed bullet train will cover the BKC-Boisar distance via Thane and Virar in just 36 minutes.

"The bullet train service running between Mumbai's Bandra Kurla Complex (BKC) and Ahmedabad will also bring distant suburbs closer. It will also create new job opportunities. Currently, it takes more than 90 minutes to cover the distance from central Mumbai to Boisar by train. The duration will be reduced to just 36 minutes," an official said.

The bullet train service will run in two modes. Fast services with limited stops and slow services stopping at all stations along the route will run similar to Mumbai's local train systems. According to NHSRCL officials, the project is expected to start operations in Gujarat by the end of 2027 and then expand to Maharashtra.

Boisar is one of the major industrial suburbs in MMR. Boisar is all set for a significant financial boost with the launch of the bullet train service. The construction of Boisar bullet train station is going on at a fast pace and the work on the station buildings is going on at a fast pace.

An NHSRCL official said, "The Boisar bullet train station will not only serve as a transport hub but also as an architectural landmark. The facade of the station is inspired by the traditional fishing nets used by Konkani fishermen, reflecting the local culture and heritage."

The station will have various facilities including a two-storey station building, lounges, waiting rooms, smoking rooms, first aid facilities, toilets, drinking water facilities, and lifts and escalators. In addition, the station will have both paid and unpaid shops at the concourse level.

Located near Gram Panchayat Man on Boisar-Chillar State Highway, the station will have adequate parking for private cars, taxis, two-wheelers and buses, auto stand, station plaza and gardens. It will be located 13.6 km from NH 48 (Delhi – Chennai) and 6 km from Boisar West Railway Station and Boisar Bus Station.

Boisar is also a center of tourism, with many beaches like Chinchani, Nandgaon, Shirgaon, Kelwa, Dahanu and Bordi. Also there are scenic spots like Hiradpada and Kalmadevi waterfalls and Mahalakshmi temple. A new bullet train station will make these attractions more accessible, potentially boosting tourism in the region.
