Transport Minister Pratap Sarnaik has taken note of frequent disputes between State Transport (ST) bus conductors and passengers over the issue of giving back small change. To solve this, passengers are encouraged to book tickets using UPI. This initiative has received a good response, and UPI payments have doubled in the past few days.

Every ST bus is now equipped with an Android Electronic Ticket Issuing Machine (ATIM) that allows passengers to pay via UPI. Minister Sarnaik suggested that using UPI can prevent arguments over loose change, prompting the ST Corporation to promote digital payments.

Additionally, the corporation has issued a circular instructing the local administration to ensure that conductors receive an advance allowance before duty. This will further help avoid disputes over returning small amounts of change. The minister has also advised the ST Corporation to ensure such issues do not arise in the future.
