According to Sacnilk, when the film was first released in 2004, it grossed over INR 40 crores. The budget of this film was only eight crore rupees. The film is a remake of the 2003 Telugu blockbuster Okkadu, which starred Mahesh Babu and Bhumika in the lead roles.


The film stars Trisha Krishnan, Prakash Raj and Ashish Vidyarthi along with Thalapathy Vijay. The film has collected INR 8.50 crore worldwide in two days, which is a very good figure for a film that is 20 years old and released in limited theatres.
