This year’s Lok Sabha General Elections are seeing new efforts for transparency and accountability. The election commission has implemented the Model Code of Conduct and introduced the C-VIGIL app that allows citizens to register and monitor complaints about the code of conduct.

Since its launch on March 16, the app has received 245 complaints in the Mumbai Suburban District (Kurla, Andheri, and Borivali). The Election Commission has addressed each complaint, resolving 135 within the stipulated time frame. The remaining 183 complaints were also resolved within the allotted time.

The C-VIGIL app gives citizens the power to report any inappropriate behaviour that violates the code of conduct. The app addresses complaints and takes action within a hundred minutes. The district's election office encourages everyone to use the app to report any violations they witness.

Complaints have been received from various suburban Mumbai neighbourhoods, including Andheri East (16), Andheri West (8), Anushakti nagar (7), Bhandup West (5), Borivali (13), Chandivali (26), Charkop (14), Chembur (14), Dahisar (8), Dindoshi (5), Ghatkopar East (3), Ghatkopar West (2), Goregaon (10), Jogeshwari East (5), Kalina (8), Kandivali East (8), Kurla (5), Magathane (24), Malad West (11), Mankhurd Shivajinagar (1), Mulund (16), Bandra East (7), Bandra West (8), Versova (3), Vikhroli (16), and Vile parle (5).

In addition to the implementation of the C-VIGIL app, the district election systems are prepared to conduct the main Lok Sabha election procedure smoothly. Vikas Pansare, the Election Returning Officer for the South Central Lok Sabha Constituency and Additional Divisional Commissioner of the Konkan Division, has asked political parties to cooperate with the district administration by adhering to the directives of the Election Commission of India (ECI).

A meeting was held under the direction of Election Returning Officer Vikas Pansare, where representatives of registered national and political parties were informed about the guidelines that candidates must adhere to for the Lok Sabha General Election.

Over 5,500 teams are active in all four Lok Sabha seats in the Mumbai Suburban District. The election process timeline has been announced, with election applications being accepted as of April 26. 1st, 2nd, and 4th Saturdays and Sundays will not be considered for applications in May.

The deadline for application submission is May 3, with reviews scheduled for May 4. Candidates can withdraw their applications until May 6. The election day is set for May 20, with the counting day on June 4.
