In a significant move this election season, Jalgaon has become the first district in the state to go digital with the implementation of smart voter slips. This replaces traditional paper voter slips with digital ones that can be downloaded and stored on mobile devices. They will reduce waiting times at the polls.

Voter slips play an important role in elections. They are given to registered voters before an election and contain important details such as the voter's name, the election date and time, and the address and booth number of the polling station. These slips are a confirmation of voter registration.

The new digital voter slips function like a digital invitation to vote. They offer the same information as traditional paper slips. Voters can now view their polling station location and their serial number in the voters' list right on their mobile devices.

To make this new system even more accessible, 250 holders with barcodes have been installed at busy locations throughout the district. These include bus and train stations, marketplaces, and commercial districts. By scanning these barcodes with their cellphones, locals can quickly access the voter list and other important information.

The barcode leads users directly to the Election Commission website, where they can verify their details in three ways. They can conduct a direct search with registered names, use the phone number associated with their Aadhaar card, or use the number on their voter ID card.

Traditional methods of distributing voter slips often encounter problems such as errors in voter lists, delays in sending the list, and technical obstacles. The introduction of smart voter slips in Jalgaon has received positive feedback from the district.
