After remaining stagnant for nearly a month, the diesel prices on Wednesday, August 18, witnessed a decline across the country. However, the petrol prices have remained unchanged.
According to reports, the price of diesel went down by 19 to 21 paise across major metros.
The diesel and petrol rates were last hiked on July 17 and reached an all-time high across the country. Since then, the petrol and diesel rates across major cities have remained at a standstill.
In Mumbai, diesel costs INR 97.24 for one litre. This is cheaper by 21 paise compared to yesterday which was sold at INR 97.45 per litre.
While petrol continues to be at 107.83 per litre in the financial capital.
Moreover, in Delhi, the price is now INR 89.67 per litre of diesel, which is 20 paise cheaper than yesterday, August 17. Kolkata had also seen a 20 paise drop as motorists shell out INR 92.82 per litre of diesel. Bangalore followed the trend as citizens saw a 21 paise drop on August 18, which left the fuel price at INR 95.05 per litre. Chennai saw its diesel prices drop by 19 paise, which left the final price at INR 94.20 per litre.
Petrol and diesel prices are revised by the oil marketing companies at 6 am every day.
All the states and cities have different fuel prices depending upon the value-added taxes, local and freight charges which vary from place to place.
