Air India is set to introduce a new early morning flight between Nagpur and Mumbai starting October 1, offering passengers a more convenient and flexible travel option. The new service—flight AI 627—will depart from Mumbai at 5:00 am and arrive in Nagpur at 6:35 am. The return flight, AI 628, is scheduled to take off from Nagpur at 7:15 am, landing in Mumbai by 8:35 am. This daily service is expected to ease the current demand on existing morning flights, providing relief to frequent travelers on this important route.
Passenger Demand
Currently, IndiGo is the only airline operating early morning flights between Nagpur and Mumbai, with two departures from Nagpur at 6:10 am and 8:15 am. However, passenger demand on this route has been on the rise, surpassing the capacity of these flights. Travel consultants have noted a growing preference among passengers for early morning departures, especially those traveling to Mumbai for business purposes. Air India’s decision to resume its morning flight after a seven to eight-month hiatus directly addresses this gap in flight availability, offering passengers more options.
Strengthening Connectivity
The air link between Mumbai and Nagpur is vital for both political and economic reasons. Nagpur, serving as the winter capital of Maharashtra, sees frequent travel from state government officials, politicians, and business leaders. Improved connectivity between the two cities will facilitate smoother travel for these decision-makers, as well as entrepreneurs who rely on access to Mumbai’s financial hub. As Nagpur continues to grow as an industrial and educational center, this new flight service is expected to further strengthen ties between the two cities, benefiting both business and governance.
