In a significant development, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has announced to withdraw the 10 per cent water cut in Mumbai from Monday, July 29, 2024.
Given the overall situation, the civic body is also withdrawing a 10% water cut to Thane City, Bhiwandi, and Outside City Division Grampanchyats, where water is supplied by BMC, from Monday, July 29, 2024.

This move comes as the four lakes - Vihar, Tulsi, Tansa & Modaksagar - are overflowing. Moreover, all the seven reservoirs supplying water to Mumbai are experiencing heavy rains, resulting in a steady increase in water storage.
As of 6 am today, July 25, the water stock in the reservoirs reached 66.77 per cent. The water levels in the remaining three lakes Upper Vaitarna, Middle Vaitarna and Bhatsa were recorded at 34.13%, 63.32% and 64.09% respectively.

It is pertinent to note that Mumbai's July rainfall has reached 1,505.5 mm, making it the second wettest July. Last year, during this period July recorded 1771 mm rainfall.
