In a bizarre incident on Saturday, June 8, a local train originally moving towards Goregaon from the Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus (CSMT) at 10.54 am was found moving on an unexpected path. The train reached Wadala Road station 20 minutes late. However, instead of continuing towards Goregaon, the train was mistakenly directed towards Vashi.

The harbour line divides into two corridors at Wadala station, one leading to Vashi and the other to Andheri/Goregaon. The station master at Wadala gave the wrong signal, which caused the train to take the wrong route.

The error was quickly noticed by the guard. He then immediately applied the emergency brake and halted the train. The control room was notified by the motorman and guard.

The train had to be turned back and placed back on the correct track. This process took some time. This incident led to delays for other trains operating between CSMT and Wadala causing inconvenience to commuters.

The Wadala station master has reportedly received a note for giving the wrong signal. Reports suggest that the error occurred as he did not have a proper schedule of trains. An investigation into the incident is ongoing.
