The Maharashtra Cyber Police is set to become the first department in the state to integrate Artificial Intelligence (AI) into its recruitment process, as per the report by The Indian Express. As part of a pilot project, AI will be used to conduct the initial round of interviews and shortlisting for the recruitment of 150 cyber consultants.
To streamline and expedite the process, Maharashtra Cyber has partnered with Nova Strategic Operations (NSO) and VeriKlick, a US-based AI firm. This AI-driven approach is expected to drastically reduce the time taken for interviews—from weeks to just hours—while also helping to eliminate errors and unconscious bias.
A senior official explained that the AI system will assign scores based on candidates’ interview responses, which will then be reviewed by human officials. Importantly, all shortlisted candidates will still go through a manual interview round to ensure accuracy and rule out false positives.

Over 2,400 candidates have applied for technical and analytical roles under the cyber security initiative. To manage the high volume efficiently, AI tools will be used for application screening, voice and facial verification, adaptive questioning, and digital scoring.
This initiative signals a major technological leap in public sector hiring, blending AI efficiency with human oversight to build a smarter, fairer recruitment system.
