Mumbaikars woke up to the chilly winds for the second consecutive day, on Tuesday morning, January 7.
After pockets of Mumbai experienced unseasonal drizzle late on Sunday, January 5, the minimum temperature dipped below normal the next day, by Monday morning, January 6.
With this, the city also witnessed a change from sunny daytime temperatures from the last few days.
Therefore, experts have warned the citizens to brace for more chills as the city is likely to witness another coldwave of the season this week.
On Monday, January 6, Mumbai saw a massive drop of 6 degrees Celsius in the maximum temperature recorded in just three days.
As per India Meteorological Department (IMD)’s Santacruz observatory, the city recorded a maximum temperature of 30.3 degrees Celsius, which was 36 degrees Celsius on January 4. Records from the MET bureau showed that it was the city’s hottest January day since 2016.
While, the minimum temperature was 16.8 degrees Celsius, which was 19 degrees Celsius the day before.
Marking a further drop in the minimum temperature on Tuesday morning, January 7, the Santacruz observatory marked 15.2 degrees Celsius; whereas, the Colaba observatory reported 18.6 degrees Celsius.
As per its weekly forecast, from January 7 to January 12, the minimum temperature will range between 14 to 18 degrees Celsius and the maximum temperature will be in the range between 31 to 33 degrees Celsius.
The sky will be mainly clear, however later in the week the skies in Mumbai are likely to be hazy and foggy. Moreover, the temperatures are also likely to rise.
