The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation's (BMC) Education Department has launched a new initiative called 'Chala Vachu Ya!! Summer Vacation Library'. Between May 2 and June 12, 2025, the civic body will set up a library in its 25 administrative wards.
These libraries will be opened in two sessions every day. These libraries will be opened from 10 am to 1 pm and again from 4 pm to 6 pm. Also, these libraries will be open for students of municipal and private schools studying from class 6 to 10.
These libraries will be opened in the central school buildings of the administrative division. The municipal corporation organizes various activities from time to time to instill a love of study among school students. Accordingly, this decision has been taken for school students.
This decision of the library will be of special importance to instill a love of books and reading among students. Each library will have a collection of books and separate reading rooms and sanitation facilities for boys and girls.
Non-governmental organizations will be involved in supporting and managing the libraries. Students will have to produce their school ID card, Aadhaar card and parental consent letter to enter the libraries during vacations.
