The Panvel Municipal Corporation (PMC) has introduced a mandatory QR code system for all advertisements displayed within its jurisdiction. This comes after a directive from the Bombay High Court (HC).
The new rule applies to posters, banners, hoardings, and advertising boards. Advertisements are only allowed in 175 designated locations across the four wards of the municipal corporation.
The institutions, including social organisations, traders, businesses, advertisers, and printing presses, must obtain PMC approval before displaying advertisements. All advertisements will be required to feature QR codes. It will help officials verify the legality of the advertisements.

PMC has set up an online system to streamline the process of seeking permissions for advertisements. Applicants can visit https://pmc.advertisepermission.in/ to apply for permission. Once approved, a unique QR code is generated. This QR code must be printed on the advertisements.
The municipal corporation has also warned that ads without approval or a QR code will be considered illegal. Action will be taken against such violations. Wards have been asked to make sure of full compliance with the Bombay High Court’s orders, government resolutions (GRs), and the Municipal Corporation Act.
Civic authorities have provided several options for citizens to report unauthorised advertisements. These include a toll-free number, WhatsApp, and SMS services.
