On Wednesday, in Maharashtra’s Thane city, the police not only seized Rs 2.50 lakh worth beef of 2,500 kg but also arrested one individual, stated the police as reported by the PTI.

The police, as well as, activists intercepted the van near Jupiter Hospital in accordance with the tip-off they received from Vartak Nagar Police, in the wee hours of Tuesday, mentioned an official. It was further elucidated by the official that the said meat was being smuggled into the island city, Mumbai. According to some narratives, the beef was being taken to Kurla.

Based on the report, the person arrested has been identified as Aslam Fakir Mohammad Shaikh who is said to have been driving the vehicle. Under the Indian Penal Code, Maharashtra Animal Preservation Act and the Motor Vehicle Act, a case was registered, stated the official.

In other developments, the Thane Municipal Corporation has set up vaccination centres at colleges that entail, Dnyansadhna College and Anand Vishwa Gurukul College in order to offer the convenience of college pupils who aren’t completely inoculated. This decision comes in the backdrop of state Health Minister Rajesh Tope instructing the educational institutes to curate such drives in their premises for students who aren’t completely vaccinated.
