In order to promote the quality of lifestyle of citizens, a provision of INR 1,088 crores has been allocated for planning and development of Mumbai Suburban District in the year 2024-25.
This includes INR 1,012 crores under District Annual Plan (General), INR 71 crores under Scheduled Caste Plan, along with INR 5.71 crores for Tribal Sub-Plan Out of Area Scheme (OTSP).
In terms of expenditure, the Mumbai Suburban District ranks first in the state.
Guardian Minister of Mumbai Suburban District Mangal Prabhat Lodha chaired the District Planning Committee meeting of Mumbai Suburban District. MP Sanjay Dina Patil, MLA Praveen Darekar, MLA Manisha Chaudhary, MLA Vidya Thakur, MLA Dr. were present in the meeting. Bharti Lavkar, MLA Atul Bhatkhalkar, MLA Nawab Malik, MLA Ramesh Korgaonkar, MLA Rituja Latke, MLA Dilip Lande, MLA Prakash Fatarpekar, MLA Mangesh Kudalkar, MLA Zeeshan Siddiqui, District Planning Committee members, Mumbai Suburban Collector Rajendra Kshirsagar, Mumbai Municipal Corporation Commissioner Bhushan Gagrani and senior officials of various departments were present.
Minister Mangal Prabhat Lodha informed that a total fund of INR 337.39 crore has been made available by the Planning Department for the year 2024-25. An amount of INR 19.90 crore has been finally given administrative approval for new works in the year 2024-25 and the remaining amount (spill over) of INR 185.56 crores has been distributed for the works given in the year 2023-24. Around 51 percent of the amount received has been spent.
Various measures have been taken to improve the living standards of slum dwellers. According to the 2011 census, 46% of the population of Mumbai Suburban District lives in slums and to overcome the lack of basic civic amenities in these slums, it has been suggested to spend the maximum amount of funds available under it.
District Annual Plan in the year 2024-25 for improving the public quality of life of slum dwellers. This includes works such as roads, drainage system, water supply, electricity system, playgrounds on public land, establishment of Anganwadis, construction of parks as well as projects like skill development for the unemployed in slum areas, development of health facilities etc.
