The urgent repair works of Thane Municipal Corporation's own water supply scheme will be undertaken. Due to these works, water supply to different parts of the city will be shut off on two days, Friday and Saturday. During this period, the water supply from the STEM Authority has been planned department wise so that the citizens do not face water shortage. This will give some relief to the citizens.
Thane city is supplied with 590 million litres of water per day through four sources. 250 million litres from Thane Municipal Corporation's own water supply scheme, 135 million litres from Maharashtra Industrial Development Corporation, 120 million litres from Stem Company and 85 million litres from the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC). Due to this, these sources are considered important for water supply in the city. Among them, the repair works of Thane Municipal Corporation's own water supply scheme will be undertaken. Due to this, water supply of 250 million litres will be shut down from 11:00 am on Friday, June 21 to 11:00 am on Saturday, June 22 in different parts of the city.

During this period, the water supply from STEM authority will be continued department wise. According to this, on Friday, June 21 from 11 am to 11 pm for 12 hours, the water supply at Ghodbunder Road, Saket New Pipeline will be shut off. And, from 11 pm on Friday, June 21 to 11 am on Saturday, June 22, water supply will be shut off for 12 hours in Ritupark, Jail, Gandhinagar, Samata Nagar, Siddheshwar, Internity, Johnson, Mumba and some parts of Kalwa.
During this period, urgent works such as repair of control panel in Pise Udanchan Kendra, Temghar water treatment plant high pressure substation, repair of filter bed valve etc. will be done. After this water cut, the water supply will be under low pressure for the next one to two days, informed the municipal administration.
