The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on July 25, announced the schedule for the remainder of Indian Premier League (IPL) 2021 which will be held in the United Arab Emirates (UAE).
A total number of 31 matches will be played in the duration of 27 days.
The 14th season, which was postponed in May this year in the wake of the pandemic, will resume on September 19 in Dubai with a blockbuster clash between Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and Mumbai Indians (MI).
The first match will take place at the Dubai International Stadium. Out of 31, 13 games will be played in Dubai, 10 in Sharjah and 8 in Abu Dhabi.
Moreover, there will be doubleheaders in seven days which means there will be two matches on the same day (5 matches already played in India – total of 12 matches) with the first match starting at 3:30 PM IST (2:00 PM Gulf Standard Time). All evening matches will start at 7:30 PM IST (6:00 PM Gulf Standard Time).
The last league match will be played on October 8, 2021, between Royal Challengers Bangalore and Delhi Capitals in Dubai. This will be followed by the first qualifier on October 10, the eliminator on October 11 and the second qualifier on October 13. The eliminator and second qualifier will be in Sharjah, while the first qualifier and IPL final will be played in Dubai on October 15.
