A crucial breakthrough has been made in the Baba Siddique murder case with the filing of a chargesheet by the Mumbai Crime Branch in the special MCOCA court. The document has detailed an elaborate criminal conspiracy, in which multiple accused individuals have been named. The murder, which had initially been suspected to be a case of political rivalry, has now been linked to an extensive interstate and international network.

According to the chargesheet, Harish Kumar Nishad, a scrap dealer from Pune, had been drawn into the plot due to the promise of financial gain. A sum of ₹10 lakh had reportedly been offered to him by wanted accused Shubham Lonkar on behalf of gangster Anmol Bishnoi. The money had been expected to support the expansion of his scrap business, ‘Balaji,’ in Pune. However, Nishad had believed that his involvement had been limited, as the execution of the murder had been assigned to three others—Shiva, Gurmel, and Dharmaraj. Further details of the investigation have revealed that crucial logistical support had been provided by Nishad. Mobile phones, which had been used by the shooters before the crime, had been procured from Pune’s Warje area. A false identity had reportedly been used by Nishad during the purchase, as he had introduced himself as ‘Rahul Kashyap’ to the shopkeeper. Additionally, a bike intended for reconnaissance had been purchased from Pune for ₹34,000.

The chargesheet has also disclosed that financial backing for these purchases had been arranged by Praveen Lonkar, while further funds had been secured from Uttar Pradesh by Anurag Kashyap and Gyanprakash Tripathi. The complexity of the planning has been underscored by a key meeting that had taken place in August 2024 at a well-known hotel in Kalamboli, Navi Mumbai. The gathering had been attended by several accused individuals, including Shubham Lonkar, Nitin Sapre, and Ram Kanaujia. Anmol Bishnoi had reportedly participated virtually from Portugal, where he had allegedly issued an order stating that Baba Siddique must be eliminated at any cost.

Once the murder plot had been set into motion, Nishad’s business had been shut down, and he had fled to his village. It was there that he had eventually learned about Siddique’s assassination, which had been carried out by the three hired shooters. As the investigation has progressed, links between the accused and international criminal elements have been uncovered. The scope of the case has expanded beyond a local political killing, as the Mumbai Crime Branch has started probing an intricate network of criminal operations. Special focus has been placed on the involvement of individuals such as Praveen Lonkar, Shubham Lonkar, and Anmol Bishnoi.

With new evidence emerging, a broader conspiracy involving financial motives, criminal networks, and overseas links has been exposed. The investigation, which now spans multiple states and international locations, is expected to unravel deeper connections between organized crime and political conflicts. Authorities have intensified efforts to track the movement of funds and communications, ensuring that all those involved in the assassination are brought to justice.
