Mumbai: Nepali Woman Arrested for Using Forged Indian Passport to Visit Singapore Thrice

A Nepalese woman who went to Singapore after obtaining an Indian passport has been arrested from the Mumbai airport. The woman had obtained an Indian passport through forged documents. The woman has already traveled by air three times through this passport. She has been arrested by Sahar police in this case.


The woman's name is Bishnumathi Shaman Tamang and she has gone to Singapore three times in the last two years. It is clear from the entry on her passport that she traveled abroad from Delhi, Mumbai and Kolkata. The complainant in this case, Gita Sachin Hegde, lives in Marol area of Andheri and is working as a police constable in Special Branch Two of the Mumbai Police Force. Currently, she is working in the Immigration Department at Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport.

Recently, she was watching the operations near counter number 67 at the airport. At that time, she was entrusted with the task of immigration inspection of passengers coming from abroad. A lady came there for inspection. This woman came from Singapore. During the interrogation, suspicion arose on the woman and she was detained for questioning. During interrogation, it was revealed that she is a Nepali citizen. Some documents were found that she was a Nepali citizen. Ten years ago, she came to India from Nepal. While living in Kolkata in 2019, she obtained an Indian passport through a broker named Vikas Chhetri using fake documents.

She got a Singapore visa on the basis of this Indian passport. She went to Singapore three times and came back to India on this passport. She flew to Singapore from Delhi on 11 December 2022, Mumbai on 15 January 2023 and Kolkata International Airport on 1 February 2024. All the documents she submitted while applying for the Indian passport were fake. As soon as the investigation came to light, she was handed over to the Sahar police for further investigation.


In this case, on the complaint of Gita Hegde, the Sahar police had registered a case against Bishnumati Tamang, a Nepali woman, for traveling abroad by making a passport using fake documents. As she also found the involvement of broker Vikas Chhetri in this crime, he has also been accused in this case and a police team will be sent to Kolkata to search for him.
