Following this, civic authorities visited the location while subsequently lodging a complaint against the host as well as the attendees at the nearby Manpada police station.
Taking cognizance of this, the police has registered an FIR against the attendees of the gathering under IPC sections 269 and 270 (negligent and malignant act likely to spread infection of diseases), Article 188 (disobedience to order duly promulgated by public servant), and relevant sections of the Disaster Management Control Rules. Police officials said that no arrests have been made in this case so far.
This comes at a time when officials are expressing growing concern about the rise in COVID-19 cases. Though the rise in cases isn’t as daunting as it was during the peak of the pandemic several months ago, a sudden surge is definitely concerning.
