In the early hours of Monday, January 17, morning, a 26-year-old postgraduate student from IIT Bombay allegedly jumped off the terrace of his hostel in Powai, reports stated. It has been claimed that he wrote a suicide note wherein he mentioned that nobody should be blamed.

According to accounts, the student was claimed to have been battling depression for which he was receiving treatment. It has been reported that the Powai police have registered an Accidental Death Report (ADR) in the said matter and further investigation is on the way. 

Based on narratives, the incident transpired at nearly 5.15 am on Monday when the hostel's security heard a loud thud and went to see what it was. On seeing the body, the hostel management and seniors were alerted who rushed him to the hospital. However, it has been claimed that he was declared brought dead. 

He is reported to have hailed from Madhya Pradesh, who was battling depression prior to attaining admission and was seeking counselling. Reports claim that he resided on the fourth floor of the hostel and jumped off the terrace of the seven-storied building.

It has been stated in narratives that the police are yet to ascertain the cause of the depression and the trigger of such an extreme act. Accounts claim that no foul play is suspected yet.
