A BMW Z4 worth INR 80 lakh was stolen from a parking lot in Mumbai's Dadar West on Sunday morning, October 27. Ruhan Firoz Khan arrived at a restaurant called Bastian-At the Top around 1 am with two friends. He handed his car keys to the restaurant’s valet service. When the restaurant closed, Khan returned to collect his vehicle. However, his BMW was missing.

Khan works in the construction business and lives in the Carter Road neighbourhood of Bandra. Khan had left the car in the parking area and was dining at the restaurant located on the building’s 48th floor. The car was parked by a valet at Kohinoor Square.

After finding the car missing, he asked the building's staff to review the CCTV footage. The footage revealed that two unidentified individuals in a Jeep Compass had entered the basement parking area. Using advanced hacking skills, they managed to unlock the BMW.

One of them then drove off in the luxury vehicle around 2 am, just an hour after Khan had parked it. The incident has alerted authorities and the public regarding security at high-end places, which are often assumed to be safe for expensive vehicles.

An FIR was filed promptly and that police are scanning CCTV footage in search of leads. Following Khan’s complaint, the Shivaji Park police registered a case under section 303(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) 2023 for theft. They have initiated a manhunt to find the suspects.
