In an attempt to curb the irregularities amid the present board exams for HSC and SS students, on Wednesday, March 16, the Maharashtra government proclaimed certain measures that included the cancellation of the registration of the school if their staff were found complicit in permitting copying or leaking papers, stated reports.
Maharashtra school education minister Varsha Gaikwad announced this in the legislative assembly. She added that the department will be taking strict action if the school principals, teachers, co-teachers or any other employees are found to be involved in permitting copying. She then went on to warn that the concerned schools will lose their registration number and the board’s consent to function.

According to narratives, to ensure that papers aren’t leaked through social media, the department and the Maharashtra State Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education have banned the possession and utilization of mobile phones by students. They have gone ahead and imposed this ban on the teachers, supervisors as well as other employees during the examination hours.
Based on narratives, the guidelines now also prohibit entry into the examination centre after 10.30 am and 3 pm, in the morning and afternoon session respectively. However, if owing to unavoidable circumstances the student is late they will be permitted to appear for the examination provided they attain permission from the regional board. This has been done to ensure that they don’t lose an academic year.
It has been reported that students will have to be present in their assigned classroom 10 minutes before the distribution of papers. Thus, for the morning session, students should be present by 10.20 am, while in the afternoon session by 2.50 pm. Moreover, students should be at the centre an hour prior to the scheduled time.
Furthermore, to avert paper leak and copying instances, the school education department has requested the state home minister for additional deployment of the police force. Therefore, the department has asked the state director general of police, Mumbai police commissioner, divisional commissioners and district collectors to deploy the maximum number of vigilance squads at examination centres and sub-centres.
