Considering the increasing number of students in government medical colleges and universities in the state, it is necessary to provide state-of-the-art and innovative education methods to the relevant institutions and the students studying in them.

Therefore, the state government has decided to set up e-digital libraries in 12 colleges, including the 10 medical colleges that were started last year. For this, funds of 47 crore 12 lakh 42 rupees will be made available from the approved grant of the project-based loan from the Asian Development Bank.

The prices of many medical textbooks, journals, magazines, research papers, and medical-related literature are increasing day by day. Therefore, the government is facing difficulties in providing literature resources in colleges. Also, since the number of printed books available in colleges is small, they cannot be used by all students at the same time.

There is also a higher rate of books getting damaged quickly due to frequent use by students. Keeping this in mind, the Department of Medical Education has decided to start e-digital libraries in 12 newly established medical colleges in the state. This includes 10 medical colleges that were started last year. The state government has allocated a fund of 47 crore 12 lakh 42 thousand 232 rupees from a loan from the Asian Development Bank in the financial year 2025-26 to start an e-digital library. E-digital libraries are likely to be set up in 12 medical colleges in the next six months.
