In the last 20 days of November, Mumbai has logged 50 per cent lesser coronavirus cases in contrast to the cases logged in the same duration in October, stated reports. An aggregate of 4,892 cases was registered in Mumbai from November 1-20.
In the same period in October, Mumbai witnessed 9,823 COVID-19 cases. Additionally, on Sunday, November 21, the Maharashtra government reconciled positive cases in the island city whilst contrasting the statistics on the COVID-19 portal.
Owing to the oversight of duplicate cases, the aggregate COVID-19 positive cases in the city have fallen by 547. Through November, Mumbai reported below 300 cases every day, except on certain days.
According to reports, the additional municipal commissioner, Suresh Kakani who is also in charge of the civic authority’s public health department, elaborated on how they have been attaining fewer cases daily. Adding that it is a positive sign for Mumbai.
Kakani added that the administration was prepared for the worst after August when the locals opened and the festivities were lined up. During this, he believes, people socialise and get out of their homes more.
In spite of this phenomenon, the city has registered a downward trend owing to the cooperation from citizens and vaccination. If this persists, the city is in a good position, but the BMC won’t put its guard down, Kakani mentioned.
