The proposed link road connecting Dahisar to Mira-Bhayander is likely to be delayed owing to the delay of NOC that has not been received from CRZ, Forest Department and Environment Department for this project.

Meanwhile, tenders and work orders have been issued for this project. A BMC official said that the process for NOC from these departments has been started, but it may take at least another 3 months to get permission from there. Therefore, the link road work can start by the end of October or from November itself.

The 5.3 km long link road from Dahisar to Bhayandar will pass through mangroves, khar pen land and Dahisar Bay, so approval from these departments is required, the official said. The company has to build this bridge in 42 months (barring rain). Due to the construction of this link road, the duration of 45 minutes can be completed in just 10 minutes.

The official said that there is a plan to construct a 5.3 km elevated road between Dahisar and Bhayander. Out of this 1.5 km long road will come under BMC (Mumbai) limits, while 3.5 km long road will come under Mira-Bhayander Municipal Corporation limits. The project is estimated to cost INR 3186 crore. The width of this road will be 45 metres and there will be 4-4 lanes on both sides.

The elevated road will start from Kanderpada Metro Station Link Road Dahisar West. Subhash Chandra Bose Maidan near Uttan Road will be extended to Bhayandar West. Daily traffic of 75 thousand vehicles is expected from this elevated road. Due to this, the load on Dahisar check post will be reduced by about 35 percent.

The elevated road will be a signal-free multi-level road. A 7-storey parking lot with modern technology will be constructed here, where 550 vehicles can be parked. There will also be a bus terminal and a transport hub, which will be connected to the metro.

Bhayander will be connected to South Mumbai

  • The Dahisar-Mira-Bhayander elevated corridor will be directly connected to Nariman Point in South Mumbai. A coastal road will be constructed from Nariman Point to Worli Sea Link, from there to Bandra via Sea Link, then Bandra to Versova, Versova to Dahisar Kandivali.

  • The Dahisar-Bhayander Elevated Corridor will connect the Coastal Road. So, people will be able to travel directly from South Mumbai to Mira-Bhayander.

Efforts to reduce load on highways

  • The government is giving special emphasis on increasing connectivity between Mumbai to Thane, Navi Mumbai, Kalyan, Mira-Bhayander and Vasai-Virar.

  • Dahisar-Mira-Bhayander Elevated Corridor will play an important role in this. About 10 lakh people travel between Mumbai and Bhayandar every day. Currently people have only two options to travel from Mumbai to Mira-Bhayander.
